Note to Sony

It's apparent you don't care about your reputation with consumers, and I can almost understand your point there.
Few people consider buying a TV or laptop a moral choice, and the consumer base is quite large.
But talented developers are in much shorter supply
And take it from one personally, who you choose to code for is much more of a moral choice.
The programmers you will one day be looking to hire are the ones reading the tech news sites right now.
And they will remember.

You are up pretty late doing this stuff :O
But I'd like to thank you for allowing us to use our systems that we bought without having a huge corporation like Sony breathing down our back telling us what we can or can't do

i don't think that sony cares. although the ps3 was hacked, it's by far the most secure console ever released. they will learn from the jailbreak and their next console will be even more secure.

its not the point of making secure console for good, its the point of making people fool for no good. Jailbreak is the process can never be stopped its geo hot today it will be someone else tomorrow sony should have to be thankful to this guy for finding the flaw in their so called most SECURE console, putting him in a lawsuit instead Sony is SICK!

Geo...this is an infringement on your 1st amendment rights regardless of the EULA...you have the right to freedom of expression...play the card you owned the product they sold...that makes it yours and you are free to express yourself the way your religion dictates...if they ask your religion tell the gov. they are now in violation of your religion just for asking...1-4 amendments...run it to the Supreme Court...see how any of them like having a EULA that violates the Consitution ask for a writ of Habeas Corpus...wrongful prosecution. listen to this advice and ask your attorney if you have grounds and when he says maybe...file a counter-suit for defemation...I am going to spam this in all comment boxes hope you take a moment to read it...Raymie

sony, you were founded on may 7th, 1946. since then, you have always been a reliable company. you guys have released some pretty awesome products, from video cameras, to headphones, and even gaming consoles & laptops. not all companies are able to do what you guys do. your televisions are always high quality, your gaming systems always hold up, what more could you ask for? nothing, except moving forward with technology, and you guys have been doing that.

on 1/11/2011 7:20 pm est, george hotz (geohot) was served with legal papers from you guys. i completely understand why you sued him, he redistributed the ps3 firmware, and released those "keys". i believe instead of sueing geohot, you could have simply just contacted him, and had him remove everything. if he did not, then you could have taken action, and sued him if needed. i just wanted to tell you sony, that since you have created this lawsuit with geohot, your reputation has gone down... a lot. less people are buying your products, your company is getting a bad name, etc. i myself, would still buy your products, only because of how well your products are, but still, i am completely upset about what you have done. geohot is only trying to help us enjoy our products more. if he is smart enough to hack a ps3, why not offer him a job there? then he can put his powers to good, not evil (even though what he had done is not really evil).

so sony, i ask you to please just drop the lawsuit. it will benefit both of you. hopefully you guys will be able to gain your reputation back, but the longer you wait to drop it, the more customers you will lose.

Hacking your PS3 even though it is yours is in my opinion still wrong, you can have fun with just a ps3, and it's fuckin' retarded if you pirate games, that's ruining the industry

The xbox 360 console by Microsoft was hacked with a custom dvd drive firmware to enable piracy, but Microsoft still did not sue the hackers after that, they have lost millions over time due to piracy but still no law suit. yet sony sued a single hacker who made no attempt to enable piracy in less than a month of the hacks release. They had no idea if there was any lose in money they sued out of complete hatred for the hacking of the product. kinda sad.

@Erudito: Ugh, when are people going to get that jailbreaking the PS3 is not JUST about pirating? Does everybody just swallow the lies of Sony and other companies in your 'industry'?
