When this lawsuit first started, I didn't know how long it would last. So I kept everything in text format on geohot.com, I was just playing around. No more of that.
It seems like SCEA has declared war on hackers. Something as grave as war at least needs a blog. I will port over the text content in the next several posts.
For a brief introduction, I released the PS3 metldr key and a jailbreak to allow homebrew(and just homebrew) to be played on your personal PS3. Sony doesn't think that's an acceptable use of your PS3, so on 1/11/2011 they filed suit against me and various other people who have done security research on the PS3.

great blog....good luck in court and keep up the great fight for console owners....we own it and would like to use it....they have gone too far...coders and developers make systems better for everyone and this is a hobby so Sony ...get over it....

My name is Slobodan Petrovic, I am 63 retired sound engineer and never played any of this games but i did use jailbreak on my Iphone to be able to use product that I paid for the way I wont. I am outraged with this whole system where I have no choice but to accept rules which restricts my rights how to use certain product. It would be like to buy a car and then to run them only on the roads assigned by manufacturer. I hope this little donation will help us all. Keep up a good work and don't give up.

Geohot, it's so frustraiting when u buy any product and the manufacture will put rules and regulations on how to use it.it's my money and my product I can use it the way I want. U can customize a car and it's legal, so why I can't customize any electronic product? I wish I can do anything to help but I can't tell u something, I will not buy any PS. U declared war and I'll back you up 110%, and what all people,hackers and Medias should do. If Sony won this war it will be an open window for other manufacture to do the same. All you people supporting this clown are idiots. His purposes may not have been malicious, but releasing it onto the internet resulted in people using it for malicious purposes. That was his largest mistake. And now playing innocent is his most recent mistake. He brought this upon himself and now will play the price. Save your money and use it for something worthwhile, like actually supporting developers. This kid stands no chance of winning.

As far as my personal opinions on the matter, sure I think Geohot should have been a little more humble since he came out as most of you would agree. @ps3fan18 You don't understand the difference between the work that Geohot has been doing, and the little kids that have been using cheats on PSN servers. Geohot's work has nothing to do with you not able to use PSN. He is only freeing you to use your PS3 as you want, as you are meant to use it since you paid for it.

Mark, Sony just can't get away with peeking around in OUR PS3 systems, on which could be pictures of you/your family. Neither are they allowed to say how we have to use our PS3 or what to do with it. Sony does not own our ps3's and they never will.
I have a PC. I wanted a PS3. I wanted it to be open. I wanted to learn about it, about how to develop for it. It used to be pretty open, but then they closed it, forcing us to choose between PSN-access and new games or OtherOS.
there's nothing wrong with Sony making money. There's something wrong with the way Sony is playing this game and getting away with it. George didn't do anything wrong. He didn't release anything that enabled piracy, we still needed the syscalls for that. And hey, Sony was pretty confident we'd never succeed. Well, they were proven wrong, GeoHot tried to contact them, they ignored him.

That's comparing apples to oranges. Forcing Sony to see their security flaws is NOT, in any way, supporting privacy. In fact his intentions seem more on the "let me help you" side. He's not harming anyone else, nor is Sony losing much by the release of their hardware's security flaw. Sony is losing so much credibility now BECAUSE of how they're treating George now, which is why most are following suit in boycotting. I don't see how you perceive a viable comparison between his acts and a drug dealer's.
Sony should hire you for you to develop anti-piracy patch quality, not like those who develop their expertise

Unfortunately the problem is not as isolated to Sony as it appears here. The fact is Microsoft lost in court when they sued a person for buying an xbox and then installing linux on it. Microsofts argument was that they made thier money on the games, not the console. So it was thier right to force you to use only thier software on the xbox "YOU" bought. If the money was in the games then why didn't they give away the xboxs? It is my contention that If "I" by a product it is mine to do with as "I" please. If "I" get get caught cheating then ban me. The anaolgy above about buying a car is in perspective. I buy a Corvette, and GM gets to tell me where to buy my gas, what roads I am allowed to drive it on and where I am allowed to park it. When I take it in to get a computer update they find out that I did not buy gas where they told me to so they disable my car, and send me a bill for the repair anyway. Some of you get this, if you do not "GET IT" then try reading the EULA's and such like the iTunes agreement. Last I recall it was 57 pages. It is only getting bigger.
